"Lauren is starting her senior year at a new school in Happy Valley. Her mother wanted to move near her long-distance boyfriend and Lauren wanted to get away from scandal.
She's been hooking up with a guy (once a week, just physical) for a few weeks when she learns that he is suspected of murdering his last girlfriend. Knowing how it feels to be accused of something, Lauren wants to hear his side.
Then someone else dies.
The kind of book you don't want to put down. A murderer I didn't suspect.
Worth the read "

"This was good for like, 30 pages, and then just a bunch of issues piled on top of one another. First, Lauren wasn’t the most likable character, I feel like she some really bad decisions or mostly just dragged things out longer than she should’ve. At the same time, I hated how much hate she got from the other characters. Not only did it drag, it seemed like the author was just trying to get us to feel pity for her. And I didn’t enjoy the commentary either. There’s some themes on drug abuse, consent, new parental relationships, and the spread of rumors online- but it’s too much. None of the themes are really addressed enough, and the author still tries to comment on every one (while completely neglecting the eating disorder theme? Why?) And the romance just was so flat. The thriller stuff was okay, I definitely couldn’t guess some parts, but nothing had me really gasping, and one major scene went by way too quickly for any impact. I think this is a good definition of a 3 star read- alongside the limited development of everything, it falls into the category of YA thrillers that are a bit fun but very forgettable or “meh”, and while you might enjoy it, there’s definitely better options. "I really enjoyed this book because it was so fast paced, it didn’t have slow parts that dragged and felt like the book was going to last forever, I wanted to read every second of the day to find out what happened next. It’s a very easy read (I finished it in 3 days), and the plot twist at the end is SO unexpected. I definitely recommend for anyone that enjoys a little teen romance with a dash of murder. "

"Overall I ended up enjoying this book. It's a YA mystery, and it did take a while before I was interested and invested in the plot and the characters. The main character Lauren is the new girl in town, and she is troubled after what she did in her previous school relating to someone being killed. She starts a situationship with Robbie who is the rich boy in their school. She finds out that Robbie and his brother have ex-girlfriends who both died under suspicious circumstances and everything in town thinks they did it. Lauren starts investigating the murders, and there is so drama, drugs, romance, parties, and complex high school students. The main character is very troubled, she annoyed at times especially with how she talked with her mom who was trying to help. These are high school students so I expect them to act like that lol. The twist was a good one I had started to guess who the murder was, but the way it came about and was wrapped up was interesting. If you like YA murder mysteries with complex characters, you should read this. Thank you to the publisher for this arc.

Rating:3.5/5"
