"My love, speak to me. Tell me everything." Neferet went to Kalona, kneeling before him, stroking the soft, dark wings that unfurled loosely around the immortal. "What would you have me say?" He didn't meet her eyes. "Zoey lives." Neferet's voice was flat, cold, lifeless."She does.""Then you owe me the subservience of your immortal soul." She started to walk away from him."Where are you going? What will happen next?" "It is quite simple. I will ensure Zoey is drawn back to Oklahoma. There, on my own terms, I will complete the task you failed."Exonerated by the Vampyre High Council and returned to her position of High Priestess at Tulsa's House of Night, Neferet has sworn vengeance on Zoey. Dominion over Kalona is only one of the weapons she plans to use against Z. But Zoey has found sanctuary on the Isle of Skye and is being groomed by Queen Sgiach to take over for her there. Being Queen would be cool, wouldn't it? Why should she return to Tulsa? After losing her human consort, Heath, she will never be the same – and her relationship with her super-hot-warrior, Stark, may never be the same either...And what about Stevie Rae and Rephaim? The Raven Mocker refuses to be used against Stevie Rae, but what choice does he have when no one in the entire world, including Zoey, would be okay with their relationship? Does he betray his father or his heart? In the pulse-pounding 8th book in the bestselling House of Night series, how far will the bonds of friendship stretch and how strong are the ties that bind one girl's heart?

"I like that the main character is relatable! She's not perfect, she makes mistakes, she trusts the wrong people! "

"I hated the beginning of this book. Not only was it slow and monotonous, these are books for younger readers, middle and high school teens - I think it went a bit too far; high school students sharing a bed, a room, making love in the forest. I understand that this is what kids are dealing with now, and I even understand what that scene really meant for both characters, but I just think it was too descriptive and it went too far. Having said that, once you get past the beginning, once they go back to the house of night, things kind of pick up. There are surprises, the story is told well, and I really enjoyed it. I do enjoy the series, but some of it just seems so amateur, while the rest seems masterfully written. I did notice that this printing was edited better than the last; that was refreshing not to have to go back and re-read sentences only to figure out there was an error."

"barf..... for real. at first this book seems like it's going to be good but the plot of it rushes in too fast. at first liem is an attractive character... then you find out he is basically a horn dog that has turned a new leaf. later in the book he becomes jealous, possessive and flat out controlling.... not to mention he must have some freakish issues cuz whats - her - face turns him on practically every time she speaks *rolls eyes * thank God this book was a freebie, I took pleasure in deleting it ."

"It was hard to stay interested in this book. I loved the series going in, so I was surprised that I had such a hard time getting through it. I do, however, loooove Stark and Zoey! They are adorable :)"
