"2/5"
"The first part of the story intrigued me, but the longer the story went, the more dramatic some of the conversations and situations seemed--dramatic in a petty way. Conversations sometimes dragged on about things that really didn't matter considering the dire situations they were in. Also, during a pivotal moment in the book, characters seemed to follow the same predictable patterns and though the situation was horrifying, i found myself thinking, "ok, let's move on."<br/><br/>I will say the storyline as a whole was interesting, which drew me to the book in the first place. For some unknown reason, I often find myself drawn to historical fiction based on WWII, and i have not read a book from the perspective of the circus and its performers during this time. So in this way, it was new to me and enjoyable. But it could have been more concise and with less soap opera feels to it for sure!<br/><br/>Also i should mentioned i listened to this via audiobook, with accents included so me reading the book would probably have felt even longer."

"I haven’t read it yet, good to hear it was good"
"It’s a MUST- READ! My #1 favorite book, might be till the day I die. The characters development really swayed me in, the bonds that were never meant to be broken. And the “OH” clenching moments when you wish the author never wrote that, as your characters take a different path. Noa and Theo’s relationship captured my heart, Noa truly demonstrated how loving a mother can be. I cannot promise you enough on how this will grasp you with the storyline. And be prepared for the epilogue, it never fails to make me tear up. "
