A wedding invitation arrives in the post: it is from an ex-boyfriend of nine years who is engaged to someone else. Arthur can't say yes - it would be too awkward; he can't say no - it would look like defeat. So, he begins to accept the invitations on his desk to half-baked literary events around the world. From France to India, Germany to Japan, Arthur almost falls in love, almost falls to his death, and puts miles between him and the plight he refuses to face. Less is a novel about mishaps, misunderstandings and the depths of the human heart.

"2.5 more accurate. I have a Goodreads review one can check out if they so wish to see my thoughts (particularly about something that upset me regarding the ending)"

"Loved what an absolute fool the protagonist of this was like wow Arthur you are such a mess of a person. I was however unsatisfied with the ending (spoilers) because like nearing the ending he’s learning this whole lesson about how like he can be alone and single and it can be chill but the ending is that he gets the guy and like you know what that just didn’t make sense to me and I would’ve honestly just wanted to spend more time on Freddy’s POV."

"The writing and use of metaphors is beautiful in this book, but the main character was not super compelling to me. It bothered me how he was a passive participant to his life. "

"Absolutely a waste of my time. It’s pretentious, arrogant, and just irritating. The protagonist was completely unlikeable and was just like reading this privileged human piece of sandpaper traipse around the world, and whine about his life. There are much better LGBTQIA books. Don’t waste your time. "
