"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must read. Riveting but difficult & uncomfortable. Yes Ani is not likable, she’s manipulative, obsessed with perfection and status and is pretty judgmental. I usually can’t stand books with these themes. But this book is not about that. It’s about trauma. Ani is a carefully constructed facade in the attempt to control her own narrative, to replace the ones that have been forced upon her. And as a way to manage her deep seated pain as well as the sense of shame, inadequacy and failure that she took on for what was done to her. Because she was a child too young to know and because society does that to women anyway. Like The Last Housewife, an important but challenging book. "
