Yann Martel
Life of Pi is a masterful and utterly original novel that is at once the story of a young castaway who faces immeasurable hardships on the high seas, and a meditation on religion, faith, art and life that is as witty as it is profound. Using the threads of all of our best stories, Yann Martel has woven a glorious spiritual adventure that makes us question what it means to be alive, and to believe.

"I found this book very interesting and really enjoyed it. But once you are in part two of the book it’s a lot of the same thing for a long time. But if you love adventure and something to put you on edge this is a great one. It also had short chapters for the people that love that. "

"If you've seen the movie, which I have not, I would imagine the book will not leave you as horrified as it did me. It's worth the time, if for no other reason than to consider how deeply we allow ourselves to bury our heads in the sand. "

"I had heard so many amazing things about this book and I had trouble getting through it. The beginning was life less and the middle was boring and the ending was totally frustrating and felt as though the read was a waste of time.
But....on the plus side the ending does give book clubs something to talk about.....
perhaps if I had discussed this book more I would have a better opinion of it."

"A perfectly well-written book that bored me senseless. "

"The beginning will be rough if you’re not religious, though this book was insanely well-written and thorough. Yann Martel did some excellent research and it shows. Part two, where every chapter held a lot of the same things, still kept me hooked. There are hundreds of moments in this book that intrigued me. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure and unique storytelling. "
