"i don't even know where to start with this one. it was beautiful and soul crushing. it's a short story yet so impactful.
this is the book i always reccomend to people who are looking to get into classic literature. its emotional, it's a relatively easy read (compared to some of his other stuff) and overall just a really good short story. as with all Dostoevsky, tons of description and huge pages of dialogue. hard to keep up with but he was a very talented writer. "The rating is low because the chemistry was low, and the **** was subpar at best.

It's 2 stars instead of 1, because I enjoyed the push and pull the heroine allowed. She was protecting her "heart" and was all about self-preservation and I appreciated this part of the story. I love a stubborn heroine most of the time.

Otherwise, this was a disappointment when it came to sizzling chemistry."
