**THE INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER**"An unforgettable—and Hollywood-bound—new thriller... A mix of Hitchcockian suspense, Agatha Christie plotting, and Greek tragedy."—Entertainment WeeklyThe Silent Patient is a shocking psychological thriller of a woman’s act of violence against her husband—and of the therapist obsessed with uncovering her motive.Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word.Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety. The price of her art skyrockets, and she, the silent patient, is hidden away from the tabloids and spotlight at the Grove, a secure forensic unit in North London.Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations—a search for the truth that threatens to consume him....

"Dare I say this is another 5 star read?????
Ok someone told me the ending to this book a couple years ago and I literally did not believe it until the very end.. even at that part I had to rewind and say ??? What????? This book was so good and thrilling I loved it so much. I literally second guessed every single character in this book and I suggest everyone who loves thrillers to read this!!"

"(Audiobook) Holy moly I literally could not put this one down. I even listened while running chores, which I never do. (That’s podcast/music time!) I love how unsettled I was from the very first page and, in this case, the dual POV really worked for me. It pains me but I have to knock a star off because I bristled here and there at (what I perceived to be) the demonization of mental illness, psychiatric meds (we never see them portrayed positively) and psychiatrists. I want to say more but I’m scared anything else would veer into spoiler territory!!"

"Most people seem to LOVE this book but I wasn’t one of them. The twist is pretty great but the story kinda dragged a bit for me. I had to read it between other books because I kept getting bored with the story."

"Ugh I was so excited to finally read this book but it fell short for me. I think it is still a good novel- but there were so many side plots and unresolved moments, especially with Alicia's relationship to John Felix, her step-mother, and her brother in law. It seems as if these plots were put there for the sole purpose of trying to throw the reader off of the ending twist. Also, we never really understood why Theo stayed with his cheating wife all this time, only left to intuit that he was fixated on Alicia more than his problems with her, maybe as an outlet or something. But why?? There was a weird blurb of self-analysis at the end which seemed unwarranted/should have been hinted at earlier, especially since the entire story seemed to be told in retrospect. "

"Hooked, I was plain hooked. There’s little I can say about how this book was written because I don’t want it to lead to spoiling the experience, just know it was good. Everything fell into place just as my brain made the connection, sentences before the big reveal. Loved it."
