"I normally like action in my fantasy books. Knew this book didn't have that but decided to listen to it due to many good reviews Storyline was about Viv an orc and recently violent mercenary trying to turn over a new leaf by opening a coffee shop. A problem was that none of the locals were familiar with coffee Story had interesting characters, a description of growing relationship between an orc and a succulent, building of a community and overcoming adversity. A+ for relationship Fantasy "

"This is a cute feel good store, Viv is done being a warring orc, her livelihood consisting of how strong she can fight her way through enemies. So like any other boss lady she decides to hang up her sword, literally, and retire into a quiet existence selling coffee in a new town that’s never heard or felt the sweet sweet comfort of a hot drink in a quiet corner. The author spends a lot of time helping us get to know Viv, and as one does when new to a city, we also get to know the new people that become Viv’s inner circle. I LOVE THIMBLE, IYKYK! If only baked goods could solve world issues like his do. I LOVE the journey that Viv undergoes, burying who she was to allow a new Viv to be born, however I feel like the front of end of this book is so heavy on the plot (building and growing of the coffee shop, friendships), that the back end was rushed with character development and relationship building. It’s hard to explain without spoiling, but Tandri and Viv felt more like close friends for a MAJORITY of this book, and less like strangers/friends to lovers. Maybe it was left as such so that we are left to draw our own conclusions? Ultimately, what made this book an enjoyable experience for me was the found family trope, it always gets me and this book was no exception. TB created the perfect little family out of complete and odd strangers brought together by circumstance, or perhaps magic 😈 IYKYK. That epilogue, *chef’s kiss*, Amity is swift and perfectly on time. And the plot twist with the Madrigal, absolutely LOL moment. Happy reading! "

Viv is an orc who comes from a background as a warrior and she is ready to settle down and live a more low key life. She works through the hiccups of starting a new business and meets a group of talented helpers along the way. This was a cute quick low stakes read…a nice piece to cleanse your palate in between heavier reads. "
