The Silent Woman
4.1
Minka Kent
"Newlywed Jade Westmore has finally found her forever in husband Wells, a charming, successful, and recently divorced architect—only there’s one caveat. Behind the gates of their elysian estate, hidden from street view in the caretaker’s cottage ... lives Wells’ first wife, Sylvie. Three years ago, the original Mrs. Westmore suffered an unfortunate accident—and hasn’t uttered a sound since. Not a physician, psychologist, or world-renowned specialist has been able to elicit so much as a word from the silent woman ... until now. On an ordinary Tuesday while Wells was away—despite instructions to never disturb the fragile woman—Jade visited her isolated predecessor bearing a peace offering: a bouquet of white lilies. Only she wasn’t expecting Sylvie to have something for her as well: a slip of torn notebook paper with a single word scrawled in shaky black ink. That word? Run."--Back cover.

"This was such a great thriller. At one point I thought I knew who the bad person was but so many people were becoming suspicious and I loved trying to solve the mystery with Jade. This was a great read, kept me on my toes. 🫣"

"Decent thriller with an interesting concept. As others mention, the mystery is predictable but definitely not a direct path. Glad to have read. "

"This was a predictable thriller. A new bride finds her new home has a guest house inhabited by the invalid first wife…."

"I'm not sure how to review this without giving anything away. I believe it’s best to read without knowing the plot. As a thriller, it’s more mysterious than scary. There aren’t any spicy scenes or murder. It’s a slow and steady discovery of what happened to a woman left silent after an unfortunate accident."

"I liked the general story that this book told but I was incredibly disappointed by the ending. It felt very rushed and could’ve had an endless amount of detail added to it but it was all left out. Normally the ends of thrillers are the most exciting parts to read but it seemed like this book had a deadline and the end needed to be written quickly to meet it. There’s also multiple spelling errors that bothered me throughout the book. Overall disappointing "

"All though four stars might seem much to some anything lower would not be adequate. I picked this up as a new author to me and will try another of her books. This was an easy read and yea you could kind of tell where it was headed. The thing for me is it had enough mystery and enough what ifs or maybes that it kept you reading to know more. This was more like a “Lifetime movie” book but hey I love watching them movies also so I can’t knock this book. (Not that I’d want to)
It had enough information of each character built throughout the book that it felt you knew them.
I read it, I liked it,and it kept my interest. "
