"This dark college romance had a lot going on. For starters I really liked how we get Eli’s background. We got info on her being abused by her stepdad and then we see her behavioral patterns as a result of that abuse. It made it more realistic. But that’s what also made things frustrating for me. Like when Eli thought she found out Sin had cheated on her, I wasn’t expecting for her to immediately find someone else to sleep with to get revenge. Like I understand but I just found that very frustrating. I wish she would’ve confronted sin and really put her foot down about the situation but then again, she’s very submissive toward him and her previous trauma and background justifies the way she acted. Still hard for me to witness though. Another example is the day after they had their time in the basement, he acted cold toward her, especially when he said “no one will ever love you”. I was really hoping Eli would finally be done with him after that but she couldn’t because he gave her worth. She was used to feeling like property and owned and sin was her life line when it came to that. I know this stemmed from her childhood trauma but it was still frustrating for me to read. I think the author did a great job of developing Eli’s and Sin’s relationship. I personally just didn’t like Eli’s character.

There were also moments of confusion.

For one, I was wondering why all of a sudden sin had to marry Amelia and why Eli had to marry chance. I was like “why can’t sin just marry Eli”. I was very curious to explore that.

I was also trying to figure out why sin didn’t just kill Lincoln right away but I guess he had to create a “set up” first to justify his actions of killing Lincoln.

Then I was wondering how long chance could hide under sins nose. How long it would take for Eli to tell sin that chance used to be there when her step father abused him.

And while some of these moments kept me reading to see if the dots connected, it could also be confusing at times. Sin would often leave with lines similar to “I did what I had to do” and little hints like that but it didn’t always create a sense of anticipation out of me, sometimes it was only annoyance and confusion.

Overall, there was great character building, especially with Eli, and the small hints of mystery set throughout the chapters that could keep one reading."

"So, I went into The Sinner by Shantel Tessier thinking there was no way for the second to top the first, and I was so wrong. This book took everything I loved from the first one and cranked it up to a whole new level of crazy. The story goes from zero to a hundred faster than I can blink, and once it takes off, there’s no slowing down. Seriously, I spent half the time thinking, “Wait, what just happened?” and the other half holding my breath for the next twist. It’s intense, it’s wild, and if you're cool with the extensive trigger warnings (and if you’re not, maybe skip this one, honestly), you’re in for a thrill ride. Now I’m sitting here, counting the days until the next book, because let me tell you, I need to know what happens next in this insane world!

***************SPOILERS BELOW***************

Alright, now that we’ve entered the spoiler zone, let me just say—The Sinner is a masterclass in shock value. From the first page, I was wondering what could possibly happen next. Then it hit me with twist after twist, and I was left reeling. I try to figure out where we are going and what the twists are during my read. I was completely blindsided!

First, let’s talk about the romantic chaos—I mean, there’s just so much tension, it practically oozes off the page. The characters are flawed, intense, and the chemistry is off the charts. But then the darkness…woof. This book does not pull punches when it comes to the triggers, and the way it dives into some seriously messed up dynamics between characters was just... wild. The plot really takes you to places you never expected, and I kept thinking it couldn’t get crazier. Then it did! CHAINS?!?!

And let’s not forget the emotional rollercoaster that is the ending. I literally had to put the book down, take a breath, and wonder how Tessier managed to leave me wanting more to the point of obsession. Now, I’m practically in a state of withdrawal, wondering what’s next for this insane world of characters. Seriously, I’ve got all the questions, and I need answers. STAT!"
"I really really wanted to like this book and finish the series, but I can’t. I enjoyed The Ritual, but this was just too much for me. I need some sort of plot and not straight dirty degrading **** like this had."

"These books just keep getting more and more bizarre... Am I going to continue with the series? Duh! I don't know what it is but these books are addicting ! Solid 3/5 stars! I basically have the same thoughts on this one as the last one, I did become pretty numb to everything early on in the book. If you're into some pretty dark, k!nky stuff, pick up these books and buckle up."
