The Indifferent Stars Above - Likewise Book Reviews
"I listened to this audiobook and I really disliked the narrator. He sounded like someone from the 1940s era that was reporting news of the war. Other than the horrible narrator, this book was very interesting and got very indepth about the entire journey of the Donner Party group. When it came to the obviously known gruesome ending, the author did not hold back. It helped, though, that he explained in scientific form the way the human body was starting to shut down. That was fascinating to learn and it helped to understand just exactly how much these incredible pioneers suffered as they tried to survive their unforgiving and harrowing experience."
"This is one of the best books I have ever read. I purposely read the book while on a trip to Alaska, as the setting there (snow, mountains, misery, etc.) largely fit with the settings inside the book and made it feel quite realistic. Couldn’t eat pork for a few months after I finished reading. 5/5 stars."

"This book was very good. The title leads you to believe that it is the story of one person, but it is really about the whold Donner party and the agonizing fateful move to CA. People were very tough back then. The books details make you feel like you are there with the party. I couldnt put this book down. I highly recommend it if you are interested in history, especially history of the west, as I have traveled the immigrant trails in several places in NV and CA.<br/>"
