"I’m a big fan of Miyazaki’s take on this story so I decided to listen to the original. Honestly it’s even better than the film. Such an intricate plot where the mysteries reveal themselves in the end. Truly heartfelt. This might be categorized as children’s fantasy but I thoroughly enjoyed it. "

"This is a book I wish I'd read when I was between 10-13 cause I think I would have really enjoyed it. Maybe if I have kids I'll read it to them and enjoy it more. It was still good, just not the magical experience I'd hoped to get like when watching the movie."

"AMAZING! The book had a lot of details that were not mentioned in the animated movie. Such an interesting read. Can’t wait to read the sequels."

"Not nearly as good as the movie but I liked the extra details the book added and the change of perspective. I’m still not sure I figured out this “big” puzzle at the end"

"Very cute book. I enjoyed Sophie's bull headed-ness. She and Howl worked together beautifully toward the end. He is a pain- she puts him in his place. I will admit, for a little while, the plot had me pulled every which way - but everything tied up in a neat little bow at the end. "

"As good as the movie, but different in many ways. It is funnier and less serious at times, and it goes more in depth into the characters than is possible in a movie of course. Spoilers? The main difference from the movie is that instead of going to the weird bird place or wherever, Howl just goes to what seems to be modern day Wales. It is humorous because you can tell that it is just modern day Wales."
