"*WARNING THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS: TBR PROMPT- TITLE STARTS WITH THE LETTER "H"* I liked this, but didn't love it. I should've realized this was a Gothic read. I don't really enjoy those kinds of books, and I honestly think that's why it took me about a week or so to finish this(along with school though). The descriptions were nice and thorough but sometimes I didn't care for them. It was kind of unnecessary in certain moments. I knew Morella was the one who made the deal, that was pretty obvious since the beginning. There were too many sisters to keep track of, except for the dead ones lol. The editing process could've used a bit more work, because one moment when the girls discovered the "door" one of the triplets didn't go in, and was crying hysterically but then on the next page, she comes out of the door and was like "Oh it was fun, we we're waiting for you". Like what? And yes, it was the same girl because she literally said the same name to describe her both times. I kind of figured fisher had something to do with it(even though he was dead lol). I think that was a nice twist, and I liked Cassius. He seemed like a good guy, although he could've been more honest with Annaleigh a lot sooner. The ending was okay, although for it being 7 months later after everything happened, the people sure forgot about the "curse" and knocked up Camille real fast, and all the others basically except for lenore, verity and annaleigh who has Cassius. I didn't think this would be a continuous series seeing as how everything turned out. I don't think I'll be purchasing the next book but if I see at the library, I'll check it out lol. "

"I have mixed feeling about this book. Most of it was fine, and I really enjoyed reading about the balls, fairy shoes, and heroine's attempt to discover the truth. But then it felt like the last 70 pages were written by a completely different author, some sort of Steven King aficionado. What was that? There was nothing consistent, too many events taking place, the tone of the story changing completely. Was I realy reading about a THREESOME by the end of the book?! Why was the ending so rushed?"

"I'm going to try and give a short synopsis but if you have anymore questions about this book let me know because it was wonderful. OK so this book was absolutely amazing, the end was very interesting. The basis of the book is that there are 12 sisters, four of them have been killed and now it is thought that the recent one has been murdered so one of the sisters is trying to figure out what happened. It kind of has a fairytale feel to it but it is very gothic background (which I mean it's full of mourning). There is a lot of death and mystery, you don't really know what's going on until the end and it definitely threw me for a loop I could not have guessed the ending whatsoever personally. It does have a magical and majestic feel to it. It has world building as well as tricksters and illusions. If you like the idea of gods meddling with humans as well as making deals and facing consequences, this book is for you!"

"This was another book that was so close to being a 4 or 5 star. Something just missing from it. Throughout the story it was difficult getting all the daughters straightened out. I don't know if I missed it but I wasn't really aware of their ages and just 3 really had any character build to them. The plot kept me guessing for sure I would have never figured out who was killing them but without giving away spoilers it also was one of the drawbacks for me. I enjoyed the main character Annaleigh maybe because she wasn't perfect or the best of all the sisters but she was a leader and a mother head of sorts. She was very fierce when it came to her kin, I very much admired that and saw a little of myself in her sometimes. The God thing bothered me a little in the beginning they just seemed to be only invisible figureheads they prayed to then about halfway through they were substantial beings who's daughters and sons where actually seen walking around festivals. It just threw me off. As weird as it sounds I really like how the book screwed with my mind unsure of what was real. All together a solid good read but not very memorable."

For some reason I just didn’t connect with the characters and I honestly didn’t really care what happened next. I can’t really put my finger on why, but I didn’t really like the book.
