Stacy Willingham
A sharp and twisty exploration of female friendship from the New York Times bestselling author of A Flicker in the Dark and All the Dangerous Things.Lucy Sharpe is larger than life. Magnetic, addictive. Bold and dangerous. Especially for Margot, who meets Lucy at the end of their freshman year at a liberal arts college in South Carolina. Margot is the shy one, the careful one, always the sidekick and never the center of attention. But when Lucy singles her out at the end of the year, a year Margot spent studying and playing it safe, and asks her to room together, something in Margot can't say no—something daring, or starved, or maybe even envious. And so Margot finds herself living in an off-campus house with three other girls, Lucy, the ringleader; Sloane, the sarcastic one; and Nicole, the nice one, the three of them opposites but also deeply intertwined. It's a year that finds Margot finally coming out of the shell she's been in since the end of high school, when her best friend Eliza died three weeks after graduation. Margot and Lucy have become the closest of friends, but by the middle of their sophomore year, one of the fraternity boys from the house next door has been brutally murdered... and Lucy Sharpe is missing without a trace. From the author of A Flicker in the Dark and All the Dangerous Things comes a tantalizing thriller about the nature of friendship and belonging, about loyalty, envy, and betrayal—another gripping novel from an author quickly becoming the gold standard in psychological suspense.

"I typically enjoy a book about college, friend groups, jealousy, drama…but I wanted a more shocking ending. It wasn’t bad, but I have read way better plots similar to this."

"I was sent an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I DNF’d this book at 60%. "

"“You’re only young once, and only if you’re lucky.”
By page 19 I was ready to cancel anything that would get in the way of binge reading. A strong opening is hard to keep pace with because of the need to go back and provide details, but after getting past that little slump, this one was just hard to put down… one mystery leading to another, and as the reader you’re left the the desire to unravel everything and figure out how we got here."

"I was so exited to see a new release from this author as I have loved their other novels. Out of the three, I would say that this is probably my least favorite. That being said, I truly love Willingham’s writing. The story line and juxtaposition of characters really drew me in during parts but also I felt like some sections were little too long winded. I typically finish novels quickly, but this is one that I really stretched out over a long period of time. I would still consider Willingham to be a must buy author for me."

"It was okay. Took me a really long time to get into it. I almost DNF. But I really like the narrator so I stuck with it. In typical Stacy Willingham fashion, you’re sort of confused from the start, but then eventually you get invested, there are some twists, and there are time shifts too. Overall it was a good idea for a story, just left me wondering for too long, and the end was a little lackluster. "

"This book was so BORING! It took forever for me to get through and by the time the "twists" happened, I just did not care. Almost DNF. "
