Topic: Go Ask Alice

I am so incredibly disappointed with the ending of this book. It could have been inspiring. It could have been a redemption story but noooo....

Morgan I’ll be honest. I liked that there was no happy ending. Addiction is horrible and messy and often deadly. I’m happy they didn’t just wrap this up with a nice bow because that’s often not how it goes in real life. But I totally get wanting it to go the other way.

Hannah Azar To be fair, Go Ask Alice was published in a market that didn’t really view YA in the way we see it today. There are a couple core texts right around the same time that revolutionized the genre. Before then, books like Go Ask Alice were written specifically to instill a specific moral value in teen readers. tldr; it’s meant to scare them not inspire them

Alexandra Roussin Letting Ana go was also really interesting but as you can probably guess it’s not a happy book :(

Jillian M. Houck With this book, it needs to be recognized that this is someone’s actual story, so they were attempting to keep it as accurate as possible. Although I agree, and was incredibly disappointed with the ending.

Amanda R I read this book so long ago and it honestly did what it was suppose to do. Tell a story about a girl struggling and it ended exactly the way it was suppose to unfortunately. If you were looking for a happy ending this “series” isn’t for you(aka jays journal, calling Maggie Mae). It’s suppose to be a diary apparently based on a true life events.

Rose This book is based on a big fat LIE so there’s no reason it needs to have a sad ending

Delia Bridge As someone who went through the same thing in real life and had a "happy ending" so to speak, it's incredibly important to me that this book didn't have one. I lost so many friends, family even, to this disease. The fact that she didn't is realistic.
