NotABookManiac I expected this. I love garbers books, but she just isn’t there for me. In Caraval I expected more, but it was sort of flat in a way I cannot describe. Jacks was my favorite part of the whole series. Book three didn’t feel like jacks, but I still enjoyed it, keeping my expectations lower

Haley Bentsen I loved Caraval and am very disappointed by this trilogy. It just doesn't have that same touch and feels messier/unfinished. To me it seemed like one of those books where the author tried to cover mistakes/plot holes with "Well there's another curse" or some other type of random magic pulled out of a hat and it really bothered me. There were more questions than answers in the end, and it just... *sigh*. I can see why people enjoy this series, but by no way is it superior to enchantment of the first (in my honest opinion).
