Ryan I think, with both companies cutting back on the production of their streaming originals and having sparse theatrical slates, they’re just trying to manufacture a cancel-proof bundle. The Star Wars and MCU people are probably also into GoT and DC. FX has been trying to go after the HBO prestige series’ audience for decades. They’re hoping the combined fresh output will create permanent subscribers. It feels like a move made out of desperation, as Netflix has been absolutely clobbering them both. I just can’t see them offering a big enough discount on the bundle to entice a lot of new subscribers. I wonder if this relationship will hold as both companies slates start ramping up in mid-2025.
