To anyone who is familiar with the Count of Monte Cristo, is there a strong need to read the full version over the abridged (which is still like 400 pages)? I read the abridged back in middle school but don’t remember a ton and would like a reread, but I’m wondering if I should just commit to the full version or not. TIA!

Avery Foreman I don’t know how the abridged is but I read the full version and I think it is absolutely worth the page count. The plot doesn’t drag like you would think a book of that size would. Take your time with it and just enjoy the ride

Disgruntled Alchemist I love the book unabridged or otherwise. It’s a favorite. Depends on the abridged version, I think. I read the Barnes and noble abridged version and listened to the unabridged audiobook at the same time. You can definitely read the abridged version and not miss anything.

Cindy Fahrbach I accidentally read an abridged edition for a book club. During our post-read discussion I felt a bit lost. I can’t remember specifically now what I’d missed, but at the time I felt strongly enough to go out and buy an unabridged edition (which I’ve yet to read).

Stephanie Simons 📚🐈⬛🏝 I'd also be careful with the abridged version. I personally spent about 6 months with the unabridged and I really thought it was worth it. Woneful prose and and awesome, well-planned revenge plot!!!
