The following might be one of the best to read so one knows the basics about the differences with the free signup versus a paid plan: https://support.plex.tv/articles/frequently-asked-questions-vod/ I signed up with a free Plex account in 2019 and bought the Lifetime special deal discount similar to this in 2020. I have downloaded the Plex Media Server to my computer and played around with it. I have not done a whole lot with it just yet, but there's certainly a lot of capability there if that's something that suits your needs. Maybe I should have paid for just a month first to see what the differences were instead of diving in head first with the Lifetime subscription, lol, but at least I know what I can do in the future at any time. I think some who really take advantage of the Plex paid plan's extra offerings really do like it. I think it's really personal preference. I noticed it's changed/improved over the years. Plex states: "Organize, beautify, stream, and share your personal collection of movies, TV, music, and photos anywhere, on all your devices. To get started, download our free Plex Media Server software on the device where you store your media." You also have the ability to share your media with family/friends. You can record broadcasts. Just does a lot/variety, if you take advantage of it that is.
