"There should have been a little more to it. It’s fascinating, charming, cute and a lot of fun nevertheless."

"I was in diapers when I had this on VHS. I don't remember much of it but I do remember loving it. Although I doubt it has aged well for the adults. There was this one scene that had a jump scare with one of the aliens and it got me every single time."

"The first half of this movie is excellent, great slow burn sci-fi like War Games. David’s teen brother is an awesome highlight. As soon as David meets the robot, things go downhill fast. The tension goes out of the movie as the film becomes a series of landscapes, unbearable wacky humor, & out of date jokes. And then the ending undoes the entire fascinating set-up and David goes back to his old neglectful unloving parents, erasing his interesting teen brother in the process. Would love a reboot."

"I enjoyed the film for it's humor even if a major contrivance was needed to motivate it's plot."

"R slur, poor pacing, insufferable main characters. It did not age well at all."

"Hadn't watched this movie in years and it is still as good as I remember it. Well worth the watch especially if you have young kids."

"This has to be one of the best plots for a film I’ve seen in a while! Films during this era are the best. This has the visuals of Goonies mixed with Back to the Future and ET (without the creepy alien dude tho). It does get messy towards the end story wise and most of it is just them traveling in the ship, but it’s still great. Also Peewee Herman being the voice for the alien ship was amazing. "

"1986. To me, it’s an underrated hidden gem of a film. One of my favorites as a kid! Recommend! Anyone else love this like I do?"
