"4.5⭐️ Such an intensely affectionate and enthusiastic doc! I think Gene Wilder meant a lot to so many of us and based on this film, he did to those he worked with as well. But most especially .. MEL BROOKS. His interviews shine with respect, love and deep sadness. I adored his storytelling, recounting their very consequential professional relationship and deeply personal friendship. Theirs was a match made in comedy heaven. I found myself laughing hysterically at ALL the clips of Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles and The Producers, literally to the point of tears. The Richard Pryor era too was a fantastic but serendipitously unlikely pairing that brought huge laughs.
Gene gave his all to everything he did. His unique talent, persona, charisma and intensely sparkling blue eyes made him stand out all the more.
I know there must’ve been more to him than the documentary depicts but it didn’t really matter to me. I always wanted him to be Willy Wonka anyway. He wasn’t of course but you feel like maybe possibly..he could’ve been. He exuded the intensity, perfectionism AND the sweetness. "

"What a wonderful documentary. 90 minutes that covered the life of this terrific actor and reminded me of just how incredible his body of work is. It’s a nice tribute from people who knew him well (Mel Brooks was great throughout) mixed with lots of funny clips from his movies. "

"Gene Wilder truly was a gem on this earth. I learned a lot in this doc and the films he’s made.
As a documentary, I feel like this documentary was a little surface level as it talked a lot about behind the scenes of movies Gene Wilder was in, but not much on his life itself. A lot of points were also repeated a lot throughout this that I felt like at times they would purposefully try to make the viewers cry or feel a certain way.
I loved that they interviewed Mel Brooks for this and I liked how a lot of his interview was shown throughout this film. Also learning about Gene and Richard Pryor’s relationship grew was so interesting to learn about. "
