"Swan Lake is something else. My little cousin loves it. All the little girls I've seen watch this, adore this movie. It seems to be a unanimous favorite with little girls. I'm not sure why. Eventually they will pick another favorite as they grow but this one captivates kids in some special way that I can't pinpoint. I love this one and I can see why they would too, but specifically why I'm unsure. The villian is great and intimidating, making his defeat near the end all the more satisfying. The dancing is beautiful. The love interest I adore and the scenes with him are great. In fact, all of the beginning scenes with him are some of my favorites. The beginning of this movie, (outside that dumb beginning of Barbie telling a story) is perfect. I honestly can't think of a serious problem with it. And all of the characters are so well thought out and put together that they feel almost real. Maybe that's what captivates the kids. But man oh man is this story worth the watch. And don't think you can just sleep through half the movie and wake up knowing what's going on. It's more complicated than that. (I know that for a fact because my cousins mom did fall asleep and admitted you can't do that. You can't expect to know what's going on. She said herself it's not like a Disney movie where if you miss a big chunk of the middle you can still figure things out. In her defense it was midnight & she worked all day.) Don't get me wrong when I rewatch it I skip one part I don't care for, but it's still good. So much goes down and it entrances those who truly watch it. "
