Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

"I actually liked the 1st one better with the storyline. I didn't like how this ended with a cliffhanger, making me feel like I was only halfway through the movie. The cliffhanger could've been done better, at least. It did connect to the other spider-mans, so I did like that aspect."

"I watched the first one a few weeks ago and called it a masterpiece. Someone commented that the 2nd was better. They were right. In what we now know is the 2nd of a trilogy, we’re introduced to a Spider-Man of every creed and color. It’s fantastic and gives this old hippie hope that these kinds of movies will ingrain in the kids tolerance and acceptance. But I digress. Awesome soundtrack (I need more Gwen Stacy on drums!), just awe inspiring animation, great voice acting, so funny and the action scenes are unmatched. Also, I saw trailers for the new Troll movie (which I’m almost positive was marketed toward stoners), The Marvels, Blue Beetle and Grand Turismo and every one looked amazing. "

"I "liked" the first movie but thought it was over hyped so was not really crazy about watching this one BUT this sequel was better! The art kept me so captivated to every detail, and then the storyline was good and funny! I think knowing the characters a bit already helped me really enjoy the movie cause it was a deeper dive into the spider verse than before. If you weren't crazy about the first one, consider giving this one a chance, maybe :) "

"Ya'll, that was good! I truly thought it would suck. I figured it would be a fun movie, but be a horrible sequel. (Like Disenchanted) Yet it still was good in both regards. It's not perfect by any means, but I truly enjoyed it. I refuse to watch trailers of movies I know I'm going to watch. So, I went into this only knowing what the first movie told me. Man, am I glad I did. Not only did it not ruin or spoil the good moments or even tell me what characters would appear, yet I could go into this & experience it as its supposed to be viewed. That helped matters exponentially. Either way, it just worked. All the characters are great, both returning & new ones. I liked the complexity they showed. Every single character design seemed truly unique and fun too. The jokes are top-notch along with the references. Just as in the first movie, you see so much effort & commitment to the film. Both the writers & animators truly put in hours to make this movie what it is. You can tell they're not only fans but simply dedicated to the success of this film. However, the beginning is very jarring. I'm not a fan. Mostly this is due to the varation in Gwen's universe, & I found it to be a bit much at times. I shared this opinion with my friend & they agreed. It's not that it's bad. It's just hard to look at. Basically every shot looks like a painting & not always in a good way. I can see the artistic elements coming out & the effort put in, but it still is very difficult to look at. It's not necessarily bad, but again it will throw you off at times. Then there are moments that I wished has been better, but due to the fact there will be a 3rd movie, I'm sure that will help clarify & set some of those things straight. Mostly, this movie was about setting up Gwen's character too. The first was Miles Morales' origin story. This one seemed to be about establishing Gwen & the Spider-Verse. As for the ending. All I'm going to say is what I heard an audience member say, "Now that's just rude.""

"As expected "Across the Spider-Verse" has some very entertaining mayhem and amazing animations but unfortunately doesn't live up to its flawless predecessor and falls prey to the superhero movie disease of deciding that a sequel has to be like the first part - just MORE. More leads and their storylines, more villains, more whacky Spider-Man versions. The movie still had some good laughs, fun Easter eggs, meta twists and great action but it tries to cram too much in, not leaving it enough time and breathing space to build emotional impact. Oh and it doesn't even try to have a satisfying ending because it is an unapologetic two-parter and just stops, so you better be ok with that. 7.5 out of 10 "
