"This is very Wes Anderson... Which I enjoy. Some of the band of players who have worked with him before appear here. I rather enjoyed this. Recommended. "

"I know that when Wes Anderson makes a movie, we are all supposed to say how brilliant it is. But for me, they are hit or miss and this is a miss. Amazing cast, and fun to see so many great actors in one place, but as so many commenters have said here already, I would be lying if I said I knew what the hell was going on and even now, still don’t know what I watched. So if you love Wes Anderson unconditionally, and enjoy mind and genre-bending films no matter what, then you may love it. Otherwise, it’s going to be a roll of the dice. "

"Fun sets and theatrical performances plus many frames for the film- it’s a play, it’s a documentary, it’s a film. Black and white, color, technicolor, pastels. Perhaps a bit too much style and not quite enough story."

"It’s wild to see such a unique director somehow continue to one-up himself and dive even deeper into the pastel-soaked worlds viewers have grown to expect from Wes Anderson. In his films the act of storytelling and the ways in which you can present or manipulate a story is often the main draw. Wes Anderson has the most distinct visual style of any director I’ve ever seen and I highly recommend checking this out in theaters!"

"I don’t know why we’re suddenly into making movies that are so very strange. It’s like we’re out of ideas or genres now. what a disappointment especially for one of the best performers ever Tom Hanks"

"I looked forward to this movie, but it's a "no" for me. Not a good sign when I keep looking to see how many minutes are left to go in a movie..."

"Really surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Really hilarious and touching at times, with an eclectic group of characters (and great pacing too). Really loved the direction as well, on top of great performances (Jason Schwartzman MVP) and stellar score, production design and cinematography. Fits really well in Wes Anderson’s filmography. Highly recommended."

"8/10
It's bright, it's odd, it's a Wes Anderson movie. Fun to watch even if you don't "get" it."

"Another outstanding cast. It’s not my favorite of Anderson’s work but it’s nearly impossible for me to not enjoy his style. I loved the “window conversations”. You can’t wake up if you don’t fall asleep."

"This was pretty good in my opinion. I haven't seen too many Wes Anderson films but whenever I do I think they're great. This one was pretty interesting since it was formatted around a play. So you see Act 1, Act 2, etc on screenplay pages. You even see the actors holding their scripts every now and then. And the story is odd enough that I think that's why it's funny."
