"Round of applause for the sound design, it added so much! The women in this movie were perfect and I normally clown on Channing Tatum’s acting, but thought he did good. While flawed, this was a bold debut from Zoe and I can’t wait to see what else she does. *Don’t ignore the trigger warning."

"An impressive debut for writer and director Zoë Kravitz. This highly original concept for this film is hard to describe without spoilers, so I'll just say that she managed to craft a suspenseful and mysterious tale that has good pacing and intrigue. The cast is exceptional with many well known actors, but Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie carry the film. I was a little annoyed by the "Trigger Warning" at the beginning of the movie. I'm from Generation X, so I dislike the term "trigger", either you like something or you don't. And I thought that the S.A. depicted wasn't excessive or graphic, but integral to the story. But I've said too much already, just go watch it. I liked it enough to give it a 9/10."

"SPOILER WARNING: Zoe Kravitz knocked it out of the park. Her directing style is so crisp and clever. Every shot was set up perfectly to build the suspense. The script was well written, giving us each piece of the puzzle in good time so we could figure out the horrifying twist on our own, but having the editing cut so quickly that we were still left in the dark like Frida. The symbolism of having blanks of black in shots and each quick cut being like a snapshot of memory was apt for the overall theme of forgetting trauma, even against your will. The main idea of drugging women to make them forget being used as sexual objects for rich men to abuse is so grotesque, but Frida’s search to uncover her traumatic memories was so compelling to watch. The actress who played Frida really nailed the appearance of someone who was scared out of her mind, but had to pretend she was having the time of her life. Her unblinking eyes watering with fear while her mouth is raised in a Joker-esque smile is going to give me nightmares for a while. It "

"Utopia/ dystopic. Utopia/ dystopia and Groundhog Day in horror mode. Freida and her friend Jess are invited to the party of a lifetime- food, rec drugs, private island and new friends. Simple premise makes for excellent horror. Directed by Zoe Kravitz and originally with a different title that may have been too disturbing. Beautiful setting, fine foreshadowing and exquisite denouncement. "

"Yoooooooo this sh*t SLAPS yall. Doubt I need to say much about the acting being superb (it was), but I will say the less you know going in, the better. Really cool story, expertly told, and Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut…..and she absolutely f*~#ing CRUSHED IT. It’s truly difficult not to drop spoilers, but I can tell you not to miss this one. It has humor (very dark), suspense, intrigue, all alongside expertly executed brutality and scintillating cinematography. Honestly one of the best and most well put-together films I have seen all year.
