"Humphrey Bogart as Sam Spade is entertaining. This is definitely a murder mystery with the search for the Maltese Falcon as the backdrop. The dialogue is fast, so I had to pay strict attention so as not miss anything. I must admit, sometimes, it was a bit too intelligent for me. Great acting, and makes you appreciate mystery noir as a genre."

"This film is full of great performances, but if you like the “art” of acting, I think it’s worth watching just so you can realize how many people you’ve seen in later films imitating Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet."
