Descendants: The Rise of Red

"Definitely miss the original cast, but the songs and dances were great. I'm glad one of the songs from the last movie was in it, at least for a bit. Wish they did more with it, though."

"It's kind of sad, this is what the series turned into. Not only are the songs kind of awful (trying to be rap / Lin Manuel Miranda but failing), but they ruin the original story. The songs do get better as the movie goes along but those first few are such try hards. Instead of Aurdon being a land formed by all fairytale creatures and characters after their stories played out, it's now a rip off of Ever After High. It was, hey the fairytales happened as we nostalgically remember them, then they all got together to form the United States of Aurodon. Which they then elected the Beast and Bell to be King and Queen of. They all have kids and those kids are who we meet in Descendants. Nope, not anymore. All the fairytale characters we've been presented with being the stories we know is now twisted into a school they attended as kids. So yeah, Ever After High. As its own story, I'm sure it be enjoyable. But as the continuation of the Descendants series it destroys what the first 3, books, tv show, and shorts built. (I omly read the first book so that might be wrong) This movie also ignores all the world building the first 3 movies built too. However, you can tell the budget was way bigger for this movie. Not only has the animation skyrocketed but even the outfits seem way more put together. There's also a lot of cliches in this movie. Not even including the classic two main characters opposing each other in every opposite way. Heck even their colors clash, which seems all too familiar. So it does make the whole thing feel a tad tedious to watch at times. Especially in the beginning as they clumsily try to make the world without the Descendants we know. What's the redeeming quality tho? Seeing all the characters we know and love when they're younger is such a trip. You will enjoy that since they try to sprinkle in some Easter eggs world-building here and there. There are like 2 songs that are good, but none you really want to listen to again. Overall, disappointing."

"Okay, the story makes no sense lol, but the music is great and the aesthetic goes SO HARD. I’ve always loved Alice in Wonderland, and I was so happy with how COOL this movie looks! The two girls had so much romantic chemistry, but of course Disney would never let two girls fall in love in one of their movies. Overall, it’s a fun time, just don’t expect an interesting story or compelling character arcs "
