"Before Mick Taylor became a cartoon, writer-director Greg McLean produced this spiritual ode to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) with cultural ignorance replacing unique barbecue as the sadism propellant. While not the torture **** some claim, its singular mission to crumple characters like discarded receipts is an understandable turn-off, especially when the most bland survives. When going to such extremes to show the maniac's prowess to brutalize—no one lives."
