Walter B. CarverCan't say I recommend this novel. Although considered a classic of American literature, I find the overall message a deceitful one. This story is full of flawed and unlikable characters that blame their despicable wrongdoings upon society instead of taking responsibility for their actions. But perhaps that was the intention of the author.
