Danica SarmientoThis book is crazy! It’s so twisted and at some point scary that I had to make sure I have all the lights turned on and there’s no one hiding in dark corners when I go out of my room at night to get a drink

Danica SarmientoTW: domestic abuse, death, suicide, abortion

I had a hard time getting through the first 100 pages of the book that I had to ask people if this is really worth it. The turn of events appeared at page 140. As for someone who didn’t like reading other people's reviews in hopes of avoiding spoilers, this book surprised me. For those who have not read this book yet, I urge you to do so, immediately!
Evelyn’s life is full of grandeur as is evident in the book cover but that was not the focus of this book. It focused on her want of a family. It spotlights her willingness to do everything she can to protect all that she cared for, her career, her family and the love of her life. It was sad to read what she was willing to do to get to the top because we all know that in reality, it happens. No one should have to do it, but there’s no shame in doing it. As Evelyn said, no one deserves anything, it’s a matter of who’s willing to take it for themselves.
I love how smartly the book was written. I wouldn't say Evelyn's last revelation was surprising because I was able to guess it after Monique said she would hate her. But that was smart, it was carefully placed in the story so the reader won’t suspect it too early into the book. It was just really sad. I wanted to hate Evelyn too but I knew she only did what she thought was best for her best friend.
If there’s anything this book did, it was to add fuel to my hatred for the media, especially for those who keep a close eye on celebrities, they would just write anything without regard for the feelings of the people involved.
