MeganAlex Michaelides knows exactly how to write a mystery. I read this because I remember how jaw dropping The Silent Patient was. This one was also excellent. I kept trying to solve the mystery in my head and no matter which answer I came up with, Michaelides had a completely different conclusion. It came out of nowhere, but there were also little clues that are perfectly planted. I was hooked the entire time and loved the dark academia setting. Really good book for Fall.

MeganI love Stephen King and I’m considering myself a fan now. He’s gone 4 for 4 with me after reading this, Misery, 11/22/63, and one of his short story collections. All of them were amazing. I loved the main character Devin. Fantastic writing. The mystery was a good one too. Annie and Mike were perfect additions to the story. The ambience was so nice and vivid. Combined with the writing it really feels like you’re in a scorching hot amusement park in the 70s. And the ending was also perfect.

MeganSecond Colleen Hoover book. This one comes second to Verity, but it’s an honorable place still. I liked that she allowed me to read from different perspectives because without that, I wouldn’t be able to discover what a tragic childhood Asa had. The part where he takes his friend’s lunch note made me BAWL. I felt terrible that he was dealt those cards, but satisfied that Sloan was set free. Also, Luke was a great love interest and protagonist.

MeganI was looking for a summer mystery romance book and The Perfect Couple hit every target. The mystery plot was laid out well. I was suspicious of every character because everyone had secrets and flaws. I loved how the romance plots were written. We get to read Karen and Bruce’s love story, Celeste and Otis’, and Celeste and Shooter’s morally ambiguous love story as well.
