DuckyI read this book because social media told me to, and I don’t necessarily regret it. It was a charming read. However, I don’t understand the large amount of hype behind this book. Everyone loves a cute little sports romance book. I ended up loving Anastasia and Nathan and rooting for them to be together in the end, just like you want from any love story; however, I found the writing unthought-out. I found that a lot of the writing style was very much telling and not showing, and that’s just a part of creative writing that I have a hard time getting through, but I stayed for the plot. Specific plot dynamics in this story were fascinating, such as Aaron being extremely manipulative toward Anastasia and Nathan‘s relationship with his family. All aspects that I felt could’ve been delved into more profoundly, but instead, we got an abundance amount of sex scenes that I didn’t need. Don’t get me wrong. I love spiciness and books, but this book had it in every single chapter, and after a while, I just started skimming through it because it was so repetitive after a while. Other than that, it was a cute, relaxing read, nothing to write home about, but fun.
DuckyIt took me about six months to finish this book, not because the story was terrible, because it was amazingly written by Sarah J Mass like always. However, I found it very difficult to empathize with Nesta, especially since the series began from Feyre’s point of view. I wasn’t a big fan of getting Nesta's side of the story, and even in the end, I still don’t feel the way she treated people was justified. I understand the deeper meaning of miserh loves company, and she was going through deep-rooted issues within herself. I like her character growth in the end and the relationship she built with Gwyn and Emerie. My favorite part of the book was them going through the blood rite. However, it was tough to empathize with Nesta, and even in the end, I’m still not her biggest fan, but I respect her a bit more. On another note, I have to say I’m not a big fan of the pregnancy trope between Rhys and Feyre. I do think it’s sweet and lovely that they now have a cute little family. But it’s a let down for me as we watched Feyre work to be stronger and a badass in the first few books just to become a mother extremely soon kind of killing that trajectory she was on. I still loved the story and the way it was written. I don’t agree with some of the character choices, but it still made it a great story.
DuckyIt’s hard to leave a review on this movie, but I have to say that I loved it! I only say it's hard because it's impossible to describe this movie and how it made me feel. I walked out probably with more questions than answers. I think that’s what the movies meant to do. I questioned the characters' motivations and asked the meaning of the ending, but I loved every minute of it. I love that they didn’t explain things to us. They let the audience think about what it all meant in the dynamic relationship between these three main characters all around tennis, which, in my opinion, is always a very boring sport, but challengers made it extremely interesting.
