Entirely BonkerzFIRE IS CATCHING SNOW, If we burn you burn with us.
The first half of this book was the biggest snooze fest of my life. I am not going to lie to you. The victor's tour is definitely more enjoyable in the movies than in the book. This is my favorite movie honestly. This translated a lot better to television, but I still loved the second half.
We do get a lot more Finnick in the books, so that is always a plus...
But in the movies he also looks like this:

SO.... Can you blame a person? You can't. lol
But yeah, as usual, impeccable writing on Miss Collins' part. Not only impeccable, revolutionary YA writing actually. I am afraid no one will EVER beat this. No one will ever write this kind of dystopian again in my lifetime.
I can only wish for it to happen.
Reading this makes me feel sad for the kind of books we are making popular nowadays. When did we stop caring about originality, well written, well-developed books? People won't even open a book most days if there isn't a shadow daddy or some sort of BDSM in it LMAO. Anyway, maybe creative books like this will make a comeback eventually.
Asbolutely:

And as usual, Gale is a selfish ******* bastard and Peeta deserves the world.
THANKS

Imagine my surprise when I was greeted with:
- A hilarious and romantic plot? That turns into a very sensual fairy tale?
Ildiko is a human woman, an unimportant one at that, and she is sold to marry a Kai prince. Kais are like...monsters? They look like humans, somewhat, but they have grey skin, long claws, elf ears and fangs in place of teeth. Basically a forest creture, that used to eat human flesh not that long ago. They have long foregone that custom though, and decided to coexist with human realms. She is sold to a prince who is equally as unimportant as she is, third in a generation of brothers, all his siblings are already ruling important places, so he was disposable.
When they meet each other, their reaction is exactly the same:

"“You find me ugly, don’t you?” Brishen had faced abominations on the battlefield without flinching, leaped into the thick of the fighting against creatures born from the nightmares of lesser demons. Not once had he been tempted to run away in fear. Now, his leg muscles rippled with the urge to flee. He clenched his teeth instead, prayed he wouldn’t start a war with their newest ally and answered honestly. “Hideous,” he said. “A hag of a woman.”

That's when she tells him: "“Well?” She exhaled slowly. The space between her eyebrows stitched into a single vertical frown line. “Had you crawled out from under my bed when I was a child, I would have bludgeoned you to death with my father’s mace.”
“I don’t know whether that’s a testament to my looks or to your penchant for violence.”
THEY KILL ME haha
And as you can tell they get along really well and make each other laugh a lot, so they make a pact. They don't have to consummate the marriage, and they can be friends instead. She gives him the green light to take any Kai mistress he wants, because they find each other equally repulsive. But he doesn't.
Our prince is forced to eat potatoes at her home, when he first travels to meet her, and he thinks it's the most atrocious thing he has ever tasted lol He is freaked out by the fact that her eyeballs are not fully black like his. He is freaked out at the fact that she smells like roses. It's overall a very endearingly funny time.

This is written in third person, in the most delicate regency English style.
It does have quite a few slow moments though, in general, it's an extremely slow read up until 50% when things start heating up.
You get a few action and danger scenes, a villain and the cutest friends to lovers trope. Where two people slowly realize that they want to be more than friends and that appearances aren't everything.
Super romantic, with a couple of sex scenes, that honestly don't even feel like sex scenes. They were written so beautifully that it had more of an intense romantic feel to it.
Overall, the feeling of reading a real fairytale is fully restored with Grace Draven's writing.
I will for sure, read everything she has written. Onto the next. And you can follow me to see many other romantic quotes from this one I will share on my GR page. It deserves its own little spotlight.
in general it's just SO REFRESHING TO READ A FANTASY NOVEL that
1 isn't enemies to lovers
2 where the couple doesn't want to **** one another from page 1
3 that is not solely focused on sex
10/10 I only gave it four stars because of the slow bits with heavy descriptions
