FionaSuper interesting premise and a fun and light read! I predicted what was going to happen halfway through the book tho 😆
FionaDeeply heart wrenching with so much grief...the best book I've read so far this year. This story made me feel so much, and so many moments tugged at my heartstrings. Joshua and his maa-maa's connection really touched me - his experience of having to say goodbye, leaving things behind to pursue a better life, to face microagressions in social classes and experience blatant racism far away from home while in search of a better life. The characters in this book are deeply flawed, don't get me wrong - the love and family relationships of the main characters are deeply dysfunctional, but I guess humans are just imperfect and everyone has their own demons and baggage they're dealing with. It's not a love story but a heart breaking story imo. It's also not an epic time travel fantasy but a slow burn and subtle.
FionaFelt slow to start, but so heart wrenching and raw.
