Geriann FridayNot my favorite historical fiction story, but pretty good. A bit of a slow start. The intertwining stories kept things moving. A bit of a coming of age story.
Geriann FridayOoof, this was a goodie! Had to spend the last handful of chapters without moving to get to the ending! lol Engaging, a bit of a mystery, a bit of a thriller, a bit of heartfelt loyalty. Great edge of your seat reading. Excellent!
Geriann FridayIntriguing story as it unravels between two time periods, and mother and daughter stories. A blatant look at postpartum depression, yet interesting to see how the connotation and treatment has changed over the years. I was a bit disappointed when Rimmer infused strong opinion regarding abortion at the very end of the story. It felt wrong compared to the integrity of the story up to that point.
Geriann FridayBased on a true story, this was a heartwarming story. Very sweet.
Geriann FridayCLASSIC! I have watched this so many times and it only gets funnier! “If you ain’t first, you’re last!” 😂
Geriann FridayThis is equally a tragic and triumphant story about survival. Read is a very descriptive writer and can really paint a picture for the reader. While it was a bit of a slow read, I was very invested in Victoria’s character and her story. A beautiful ending.
Geriann FridayEddie’s memoir is a story of great heartbreak and great hope. A quick read, yet is full of heart.
Geriann FridayTouching story about the lifetime of a friendship, and also (secondary) about the complexity of the mother-daughter relationship. It’s a hearty book, long, but spans over 30 years. I’ll admit, I sobbed the last few chapters. I also love that KHannah put so many personal aspects into the story. I look forward to watching the series now.
Geriann FridayGreat book to read, especially if you are working in hospice or elder care. Many personal stories from Bronnie (sometimes she would digress for a tangent-lol) that are very conversational in tone. An easy read, but valuable lessons, for any age.
Geriann FridayJPicoult is one of my all time favorite authors. I’m not going to lie, this was a hard book for me. For 2 reasons. First, there is a lot of Shakespearian type language and writing. I struggled with that in high school English Lit and I struggled with it today. Secondly, the premise of this book BLEW MY MIND for what I know (or think I know) about Shakespeare. It feels like a conspiracy theory that I need to continue to research. I do like historical fiction, but have not read much from the late 1500s into the 1600s time period. I had to look up ALOT of words to know what they were talking about. It is not an easy read, but I think an important read to anyone that enjoys literature and the history of it. Perhaps not my favorite Picoult book, but certainly has me thinking. 🤔
