Jadyn AdamsKarin Slaughter delivers yet another excellent thriller. Lots of drama, details and I actually the ending, despite its sadness. I knocked a star off, though, because it feels like there was so much gratuitous s3xual violence. It was hard to get through at times.
Jadyn AdamsAshley Poston does it again. I loved “Dead Romantics” so much, so I immediately downloaded this ebook when I got an Amazon gift card. I also thoroughly enjoyed the captivating and magical twist to this. The romance was almost a sidebar to the personal growth aspect of the story. I also appreciate how the characters handle grief. Poston balances a lot — romance, real life issues, fantasy — and still manages to make them a relatable escape.
Jadyn AdamsIt was good but not my favorite. Not sure if Verity is considered a Jane Eyre retelling (i haven’t read it, but I might now) like this one is, but they’re similar. I do find the writing better in this than Verity. Overall an easy read, but I probably wouldn’t go through it again.
Jadyn AdamsThis was really cute. Historical STEM-inist? Yes. There was some spice, witty banter and a fun twist. The pace is a little slower than I’m used to, but it was doable.
Jadyn AdamsMy favorite Christina Lauren book. It does start a little slow, but I loved the premise. River and Jess have great banter and chemistry. Jess as a single mom makes it a great plot point, as well. I want to read it again.
Jadyn AdamsOk i did not expect to give this five stars, but it just spoke to me. It deals with tough topics — grief, emotional vulnerability, resilience, community — while still giving you a happy ending. I like the character development and the setting. It will stick with me for a long time. I already want to read it again.
