Michael Ryave18+ months relevant. Knocked it out between 2 4 hour drives. 5 stars because it was what i was looking for when it came to a discipline book. Would recommend this over Brazelton's Discipline book. Has some overlap with the Power of Showing Up. Hot Takes: Most of the challenge is centering myself so discipline is not worthlessly punitive in the long run. Some behaviors may need to stop right away, but the discipline process can happen after the dust settles. Not as much value in the moment as I thought. The rest of the world will be plenty harsh on my kid, but that in no way means I need or should to be harsh by example. My responsibility as a parent is very different, and arguably more challenging.

Michael RyaveMostly 18 months+ age relevant. Was looking for a book to help separate play from parenting. I got what I needed from it but it wasn't what I expected. Really good examples. Helped center my parenting style more and keep a north star concept for what my actual job is. Helped me not burn out with my kid. I was spending energy in the wrong places some days. After reading, my opinion of the hard part of parenting changed but I'm more comfortable with it. Compounded really well with Parenting from the Inside Out.
