Naomi SuttonIt was a free audiobook and it was pretty good; good build up for a series that's 12 books long currently 😲 I can't say as I was utterly enthralled but I certainly wasnt bored or uninterested either. I would 100% recommend for fans of some YA-ish thriller/mystery voodoo vibes. Definitely worth it if that's your thing. I wouldn't be opposed to picking up the second eventually...but with soooo many books on my TBR, I'm going to put this series on hold for a bit.
Naomi SuttonI bounced back and forth between 3 or 4 🌟 The concept was interesting and there were layers and little details that made it enjoyable. However, I'm not sure I would classify it as a thriller... there seemed to be an intensity missing for me. But overall, easy to read, unique concept, and would recommend.
Naomi SuttonA simple story with simple characters. A little cliché but I think that's part of the charm. Not overly spicy/explicit and I like that.
Naomi SuttonVery beautifully written. Artistic language and excellent explanations of cultural words without disrupting the story. I cam see some similarities to the lore in the Poppy War but it is still unique. Some themes of Asian culture are very well represented. And now I understand the crazy jumping in C-Films lol 😆
Naomi SuttonUmm...I have to admit I did not enjoy this nearly as much as the first. It felt like there was not a clear objective for the conflict like there was in Book 1. It felt confusing and I wasn't motivated to keep reading. 😕 but I already have the final book so I guess I'll find out what happens...fingers crossed!
Naomi SuttonThis wraps up a highly intriguing trilogy. The deep themes of connection and human values and needs are well done. While it was a satisfying ending, it was not my favorite ending...if that makes any sense at all. Still worth a read, though.
Naomi SuttonEasy and simple to read but still with some excellent individual creativity. Nice fast read.
