Convince me that Lord of the Rings isn’t a history book disguised as an adventure book…. Sacrilegious to say as an avid fantasy reader, but the Fellowship of the Ring, has so little excitement or stakes. It’s a story about a group of people assigned to a task, that walks from one place to another, sings a song and spends DAYS talking about that place while a supposed Evil is after them. There is so little sense of urgency is baffling!
