S. M. GonyeaI thoroughly enjoyed how complex Jafar and Jasmine became in this story. They are brought out of that one dimensional stereotype of villain and damsel in distress and given depth and nuance not seen in the Disney films. I also love the notion that in order to gain your wishes, you must sacrifice something held dear, an idea that didn't truly make it into the first Aladdin movie.
S. M. GonyeaI enjoyed this series despite the problematic views of its author. It is also a good starting point for discussions about how pop culture can affect a person's point of view and why it's important to keep other's viewpoints in mind while reading (and experiencing the world).
