"I’ve never rooted for a character more. This was really well done- from the acting (omg the acting!), use of graphics, and artistic choices. It’s so good. Can be hard to watch and anxiety inducing (trigger warning for DV). Couldn’t stop watching "

"Amazing show! It really shows what abuse can look like and how difficult it can be to accept the need to reach out for help. It was emotional, with an amazing ending! #drama #emotional "

"I can’t think of a single thing about this series that could have been better. Margaret Qualley offers the best performance of her career as a single mother escaping her abusive relationship and building a life for herself and her child.
This show has so much to say regarding generational cycles of abuse, domestic violence, trauma, and addiction. Shoutout to all the moms out there!!!!"

"This is such a beautiful heartbreaking show. I honestly can’t say enough good things about it.
I absolutely loved it. Casting a real mother/daughter duo to play Alex and Paula really added to the chemistry. "

"This was a story of survival, grit, and pushing through hardship and whatever life throws at us. It was a story of perseverance and strength to seek opportunity. Alex is 25, being emotionally abused, and has a young daughter so, for herself and her daughter’s sake, she has to find a way to get away and eventually stumbles into the unglamorous, storied life of a maid. She dreams of becoming a writer, however, and it is an energizing dream that keeps her striving and inspired, it and her daughter are in fact what she gets up for in the morning. Fighting back against her abuse is also another reason for her continued persistence. An abuse which becomes complicated to go to court for since it’s of the emotional variety and harder to witness if you’re not there and living it, which is what makes it so dangerous, insidious, and, in some instances, beyond words and complete explanation.
She has to live through and process a lot and makes a string of bad decisions along the way, which were sometimes frustrating to watch since she had, in certain scenarios, began to find some goodness and stability. That didn’t take away my enjoyment of the show, though, and witnessing the woman Alex fights to be and becomes over time. She is the definition of a fighter, survivor, and someone that grows, who will do anything to provide for her daughter and those that she loves. "
