"This is beautiful and rich with history, ancestral and current memories, good, good food. So many of the foods that are considered quintessential American came from enslaved Africans and ultimately African Americans. It was beautiful and occasionally painful to witness. This is a must watch!"

"It was really good to me but it left me hanging a bit. I feel like with an ending like that, they should have made it more of an in-depth series."

"Love the history and the beautiful presentation. Slight frustration; really gave just enough detail to whet your appetite... no seriously I'm starving. Outstanding short series."

"Excellent short docu series! Loved every second watching this one and learning so much about our African ancestors cultural recipes. Does spicy gumbo taste as good as it sounds? 😋"

"The commentator is so respectful, interested, humble, obviously very intelligent. In the episode of going to Africa he wept at the gates of no return. And the food is great of course!"
