Rachel RoppPushkin is delightful and easy to read stories and poems and he is sort of the grandfather of Russian literature- the big Russian authors you know all revered and looked up to him.

Rachel RoppHere is the thing: Russian literature and War and Peace esp have this reputation as being very hard and deep and profound literary fiction that it’s a slog to read through. It’s not. It’s basically a soap opera. It’s Russian reality TV. Open the book up expecting to get invested in the characters and their relationships and parties and the ridiculous things they do and you’ll find it’s very easy to get into Russian lit. Tolstoy is a LOT more fun than Dostoevsky to start. My Russian professor once told me that they read war and peace in like 7th grade, and the girls skip through all the war parts and the boys skim through all the parties haha.

Stephanie Simons 📚🐈⬛🏝This is cool because it's basically a college course on Russian literature. You read a story and then Saunders writes what's important about it. I thought it was great!
