Jessica HI wouldn't count this as the best romance in terms of being super romantic, but more in the realistic side with hurdles that sometimes you just can't get over, just like in real relationships.

Disgruntled AlchemistI like the slow build of their relationship. The FMC has to learn to trust the MMC and communicate. They are both exceptional fighters, so they train together to both get better. At one point she’s really mad and he says he won’t fight with her when she’s mad because that’s not why they fight. And some more stuff happens, and I didn’t explain that well, but I think about this scene a lot.

MakaylaThis is a Cinderella spin off, so in that sense it IS a romance, but Ella is also a full character with plenty of concerns that are unrelated to the MMC. I love the sweet, gradual romance and how it’s built on real familiarity, time, and mutual admiration and understanding, but I never felt like it was the main focus of the book

Jessica HThe main couple in this series knew each other in high school but reconnect at their high school reunion years later and learn that since high school, both have become supernatural creatures and decide to date, but it's a pretty normal relationship. The girl is a supernatural secret agent, but that's very much balanced by the mc being an accountant lol

Lane Staplesthe emotional development feels unusually nuanced and authentic, creating growth towards a rare and satisfying level of earned emotional maturity by the end

Aubrey Summers*SPOILER MAYBE EVEN IF YOU’VE SEEN THE MOVIE*. ———————————————————- Eowyn and Faramir’s love story is so beautiful. The healing that they go through together and the light they find within one another is just incredible to witness. The movies missed an amazing opportunity.

Jessica HThis one the romance is like...maybe 1/3 of the plot. So not quite a side plot, but also not necessarily the main focus

Disgruntled AlchemistIt’s been a while since I read this, but I still think about the romance in this one. The FMC is cursed and can’t speak. The love interest has to pay close attention to her to understand her. It’s so tender.

Hali Rivir KoehnEverything about this book feels so real to me, the relationships included. They are not the focal point of the story but impact it a lot
