"Another horrifying book brought by the hands of Mira Grant. I held my breath during most of the story so I may be a bit lightheaded as I write this.
Normally I'm wary of sequels and prequels alike since movies have spoiled any sort of hopes I ever had about them, but this was a complete surprise. A positive one at that.
How nice it is to be reminded just how full of Lovecraftian horrors the Mariana Trench may be. It's not like I expected a full bout of sleep tonight anyway.

I should thank Rachel at The Shades of Orange from mentioning this title in her videos, otherwise I would have never stumbled upon the prequel from one of the best horror books I've read in the last couple of years. Bless her.

Here's to hoping for a second book."
"The Imagine cable network has launched a new expedition to create a documentary in search of the reality of mermaids. Unfortunately, they find just a bit too much reality for their hyperreality programming.

I had intended to use this book for my stand-alone fantasy entry for the /r/Fantasy book bingo challenge, but I just couldn’t justify calling this a novel when it was 89 pages on the Kindle. That's squarely in novella territory.

That does NOT mean I didn’t enjoy this immensely -- I’m not sure, at this point, that Seanan McGuire can do much wrong in my eyes. It was creepy and scary and I wanted desperately for it to be about twice as long at an absolute minimum. Pout. Pout pout. Sigh."
"Talk about packing a punch! I read this since “Into the Drowning Deep” has been on my radar for years, and personally, I like to know the backstory to a plot if one exists. Also, I’d rather read 120 pages and hate it rather than 440. But I did not hate it, I loved it! The pacing was perfect, and 120ish pages is not a ton of time, so the fact that this managed to convey so much and that I actually cared for some of the sprawling cast says a lot about the author. I will definitely be checking out Mira Grant’s (aka Seanan McGuire’s) other work!"
