"I was really torn between loving this book and feeling nothing but apathy for it. While the storyline is solid and compelling, it seemed as though it was missing chunks. Prince Guang is presented as a villain, but doesn't seem to demonstrate any real threat towards anyone. The battle scene is really built up and then all of a sudden it's just...over. It was just a bit of let-down. But, that being said, I stayed up pretty late (or early) to finish reading the book. Flaws aside, Dokey writes with a certain style that just seems to flow from page to page. I am a bit hooked on this series now."
