"Just lovely and exactly what I needed as I face a huge transition in my own life - from stay at home mom of two, to a full time working mom of two. I think I need to read this book annually, and my husband should too - I hope for a sequel by dads, because they deserve this sort of thoughtful and emotionally sensitive reflection! Although published by Zondervan, a Christian imprint, and with scattered references to Christian faith, I wouldn’t say this is a particularly overtly religious book and I think a secular mom or mom of another religion would get 90%+ as much out of it as I did. There’s moms with infertility, moms who have had pregnancy loss, adoptive moms, foster moms, biological moms. They all seem to be North American and all seem to be roughly middle class based on their tone, so one could perhaps critique this as a bit “basic”, but I think as long as you know what cultural standpoint this represents that’s fine. Four stars instead of five because several authors had multiple stories in the book and I couldn’t follow chronologically the facts of their lives and I wanted to. That said, each essay stands completely alone and you can read this in any order. It would be a great daily devotional if that’s what you have time for, but I binged this in one go!
Another thing to note is all the moms appear to have kids roughly ten and under. It’s designed for new moms. I would have loved to hear from some older moms and some grandmothers, to get some long range perspective and wisdom. But this book is much more about solidarity than advice, and again, that works.

Would highly recommend."
