State of the Union - Likewise Book Reviews

"Compared to the two earlier books, I found this story lagging in spots. The idea was extremely interesting and the plot was great at other areas, however this book was more of a chore to finish some nights.

Many others have highlighted the plot so I will be brief. The story is that the US is being blackmailed to leave the world and financial stages as the number one leader by those tied to the original USSR. The blackmail comes in the form of nuclear bombs hidden away in briefcases all over the country. To make matters worse, the Soviets have a new secret weapon, or rather shield, in the form of a defensive system that makes them impregnable to attack from conventional missile means.

With not much time, Scot Harvarth must reactivate a cold war US spy network or find another means of protecting the USA...

The only thing I didn't like in terms of the plot was what the US asked for in the end... this seemed not plausible to me. I'll leave it at that so that those who haven't read the book will find out what I mean on their own."
