The Summoning - Likewise Book Reviews
"Oh my word that was so much. Firstly, I read this based on nostalgia. When I was younger I had accidentally read the second book without realizing. Luck for me, I don’t remember it so I was able to enjoy the series wholeheartedly. I loved this read. I like how it was written; in the realistic format of a 15 year old girl. Asking too many questions and being hesitant to bring an adult into the mix fits with the FMC and makes sense as we’re following in her POV. It’s interesting enough, but those last ten or so chapters had me hooked. It felt like watching the TV show Teen Wolf all over again; just the dominoes falling in quick succession and swings tying together in spots you wouldn’t have expected. This is a good read for brief escapism if that is what you read books for. Really enjoyed"
"I always like to read YA when I get the chance so I can see if it is something my kids would want to read and if I approve.....my daughter and son would both enjoy this book.....I thought the book was pretty good and enjoyed the supernatural aspect of it......but I have to say my like factor went down a bit when one of the characters in the book turns out to be a werewolf.......UGH.......I was really hoping to get away from the whole 'Twilight' aspect......no vampires or werewolves....and was happily reading thru the book when BAM......dang werewolf......the storyline is pretty light compared to other YA books I've read and it does get a bit slow when nothing happens for awhile at 'crazy' house.....but all in all......I would recommend it for my kids and other teens who are looking for a fun series to read."

"Crave is a great book as well about paranormal creatures! And if you like ****, the Dark Dagger Brotherhood series is great as well! "
"So, let me first say, I love Storm Song as a person. I found her on tiktok and bought this book, which I believe is her first, because she is absolutely the type of creator trying to put diverse content out that we all need.

That said....this was rough. The pacing was way, way, way too fast. This book could have been, and perhaps should have been, two or three times as long. The elemental phases should have been dragged out. This could have stretched over weeks instead of, what? Two days? Maybe three?

The characters themselves have a lot of potential. All four love interests were diverse and had good, albeit brief, backstories. Scarlett was even complex. But, as an actual polyamorous person, I wanted to see these relationships better fleshed out. Even when you're trauma-bonded, you don't really jump to the L word within a single day or so.

Finally, the book was billed as having loads of sex. Sure, Scarlett did have sex with all 4 dudes within two days, but the sex was very vanilla (except Finn), and it was brief. And it didn't happen until like the final quarter of the book.

I'm going to continue with this book series - I have hopes that as Storm has written more books, has an AR team, etc, that they will get better. And, honestly, I am invested in the overarching story, beyond the boyfriends."
